Athletics Day & Presentations

Athletics Day & Certificates
by Knox, Lily and Caleb

Last week, we did Athletics and lots of kids rushed out of class nervously to support their house colours.

Here is an example of athletics writing using descriptive language and short punchy sentences.

Athletics Day

Athletics day. Lots of sunscreen, lots of hats, challenging races, chugging water, encouraging people. Black lines and lots of lanes, people sprinting off them. Kids waiting noisily. Active kids running about out of control. Nervous kids trembling in fear. Girls doing shot put trying not to throw it but push it.
"Oh no, someone's hurt!".
Boys doing discus, throwing them everywhere. Girls doing long jump, majestically jumping. Boys doing high jump, jumping into the clouds. Finally, Athletics day is over.

We had an assembly. We were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd. People were being called out. "Yes, its me!".

Here is a photo  of certificates being held up.
Red - 1st place
Blue - 2nd place
Yellow - 3rd place
White - T ball and class certificates.

"Well done to all those children that participated in Athletics Day on the 15th March. It was a beautiful sunny day. Lots of bright colours and cheering. A big "thank you" to the families that came out on the day to show support!
Congratulations to all those talented children that received certificates during assembly. Very proud.
